MEMORANDUM FOR	IMPERIAL JAPANESE GOVERNMENT.
THROUGH	Central Liaison Office, Tokyo.
SUBJECT	Supplemental Instructions Relating to Import and Export Controls.

1. Reference is made to Memorandum AG091, 3 (22 Sep 45) ESS dated 22 September, 1945, Subject: “Controls over Exports and Imports of Gold, Silver, Securities and Financial Instruments.”
2. a. You may permit Japanese Nationals being repatriated to Japan to bring in with them yen currency in the following amounts:
(1) Commissioned Officers— a maximum of ¥500;
(2) Non-Commissioned officers and enlisted men — a maximum of ¥200;
(3) Civilians— a maximum of ¥1,000.
b. You will take up against receipt all other currency, including any yen currency in excess of the amounts above set forth, and all other items enumerated in the reference memorandum. You will hold the same in safe custody pending further directions from this headquarters.
c. If the yen currency permitted to be brought in consists of Bank of Taiwan or Bank of Chosen notes, you will exchange the same at the port of entry for Bank of Japan notes. You will hold the currency so exchanged in safe custody with any other items that may be taken up.
3. a. You will permit Korean Nationals being repatriated to Korea and Chinese Nationals being repatriated to China to take with them yen currency in an amount not exceeding ¥1000 per person.
b. You will take up against individual receipt all other currency, including any yen currency in excess of the amounts above set forth, and all other items enumerated in the reference memorandum. You will hold the same in safe custody pending further directions from this headquarters. You will make no exchanges of currency for persons leaving Japan.
4. You will include art objects among the items covered by the reference memorandum and this memorandum.
5. You will submit to this headquarters weekly reports of the items taken up, which reports will contain the names, addresses and nationalities of the persons concerned, the amount and description of the items taken into custody, the port where the taking up occurred and all other pertinent imformation.
6. You will report immediately to this headquarters the action taken to comply with the requirements of this memorandum.
7. An acknowledgment of the receipt of this memorandum is desired.
