SUBJECT

Remittance Receipts Brought in by Japanese Repatriates from China

1. Reference is made to CLO Memorandum No. 817 (5.1) and No. 818 (5.1) both dated 1 December 1945.
2. The Imperial Japanese Government is authorized to permit Japanese Nationals being repatriated from China to bring in with them remittance receipts payable in Yen issued to them by branch offices of Yokohama Specie Bank in China against Yen deposits provided that the total Yen amount of remittance receipts carried in by any person, when added to the currency which he is authorized to carry in with him, shall not exceed the limits prescribed in Memorandum for the Imperial Japanese Government, file AG 091.31 (12 Oct 45) ESS, subject: "Supplemental Instructions Relating to Import and Export Controls."
3. Authorization is also given to the conversion into Japanese Yen of remittance receipts brought into Japan pursuant to the provisions of this Memorandum.
4. The authorizations granted by this Memorandum are made retroactive to 24 October 1945.
5. An acknowledgement of the receipt of this Memorandum is directed.
