I hereby promulgate the Law concerning Salary and Other Compensations granted to Prime Mimister, etc.

Law concerning Salary and Other Compensations granted to Prime Minister, etc.
Article 1. Salary and other compensations granted to the following specified government service officials (to be referred to hereinafter as "Prime Minister, etc." ) shall be provided for in this Law:

5. Envoy Extraordinary and Ambassador Plenipotentiary
6. Chief of the Imperial Household Office
8. Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary
Article 2. Monthly amount of salary granted to Prime Minister, etc. shall be established in the annexed table.
Article 3. Prime Minister, etc. newly appointed shall be granted their salaries as from the very day of the appointment;provided, that if Prime Minister, etc. who have retired or have been dismissed from their post are again appointed to any of those positions on the very day of the retirement or dismissal, they shall be entitled to their salary as from the following day of the reappointment.
Article 4. Prime Minister, etc. who happen to lose their status due to retirement or dismissal, or on account of death shall be granted the salaries up to the day of the occasion.
Article 5. The amount of salaries granted under the preceding two Articles shall be calculated on daily basis, the daily rate being one twenty-fifth of the monthly amount of salary;provided that in case the amount thus computed is in excess of the monthly amount of salary, the latter shall be regarded as the maximum amount to be paid out.
Article 6. The salaries shall be paid out on the twenty-first day of each month. Provided that the salary granted under Article 4 shall be paid out at the very time of any of the described occasions coming into being.
Article 7. In addition to their salary, Prime Minister, etc. shall be granted the area allowance, retirement allowance, grant for death and traveling expense.
The amount of the compensations described in the preceding paragraph, and conditions and procedures as to the issuance of them shall be as provided for government service officials.
Supplementary Provisions:
The present Law shall come into force as from the day of its promulgation. Provided that the provisions of Articles 1 to 5 inclusive and Article 6 (except the provision as to traveling expenses) shall be applicable to salaries and other Compensations granted on and after January 1, 1948.
"Chief and Members of the National Personnel Commission" as referred to in Article 1 and the annexed table shall read "Chief and Members of the Temporary National Personnel Commission," until the establishment of the National Personnel Commission.
Base Pay, Provisional Increased Pay, Temporary Addition of Provisional Increased Pay, Temporary Family Allowance under the Ordinance Concerning Temporary Family Allowance (Imperial Ordinance No.221, 1942), Temporary Area Allowance under the Imperial Ordinance No.405, 1920 (Matter concerning Allowance granted to Government Workers who serve in the Area of Transportation Difficulties), Temporary Allowance under the Law No.140, 1947 (Law concerning Temporary Allowance granted to Public Servant), retirement allowance and grant for death, all of which have already been received by Prime Minister, etc. for the period of January 1, 1948 and thereafter shall be regarded as part payment of the salary and other compensations granted under the present Law.
The difference between part payment as described in the preceding paragraph (exclusive of amounts granted for retirement allowance and grant for death) and the total amount of salary and the Area Allowance as provided in the present Law shall be taxable in accordance with the Income Tax Law, Article 38, Paragraph 1, Item 5.
