Law for Partial Amendment to the Port Regulation Law
The Port Regulation Law (Law No.174 of 1948) shall be partially amended as follows:
The following two Articles shall be added next to Article 30:
(Fire Alarm)
Article 30-(2). Any vessel in a special port equipped with a whistle or a siren shall, when a fire has broken out in the vessel, give five prolonged blasts with its whistle or siren to report the outbreak of the fire, except when it is under sail.
2 The fire alarm as mentioned in the preceding paragraph shall be given repeatedly at proper intervals.
3 The prolonged blast in paragraph 1 shall mean a blast continuously given for four to six seconds.
Article 30-(3). Any vessel in a special port equipped with a whistle or a siren shall put up the method of fire signal as provided for in the preceding Article in the vessel so that it may be easily seen by a person in charge of the whistle or the siren.
In Article 37-(2), "the Chief of the Maritime Safety Headquarters" shall be amended as "the Chief of the Maritime Safety Headquarters or any of the other Regional Maritime Safety Offices as defined by Ministry of Transportation Ordinance" .
Supplementary Provision:
This Law shall come into force as from the day of its promulgation.
