Article 1. The National School Establishment Law (Law No.150 of 1949) shall be partially amended as follows:
In Article 3,

In paragraph 11 of the Supplementary Provisions, "and the University of Mercantile Marine" shall be added next to "the Tokyo University of Fishery" , and "the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry" shall be amended as "the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry and of the Minister of Transportation respectively."
In paragraph 12 of the Supplementary Provisions, 'and, in case of the University of Mercantile Marine, "Ministry of Transportation Ordinance" respectively'shall be added next to' "Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Ordinance" '.
Paragraph 13 of the Supplementary Provisions shall be made paragraph 15, and the following two paragraphs shall be added next to paragraph 12 of the Supplementary Provisions:
13. Those who are actually enrolled in the Nautical College at the time of the enforcement of the Law for Partial Amendments, etc. to the National School Establishment Law (Law No.225 of 1949) and who entered the college in the 1949 school year, shall be admitted to the University of Mercantile Marine.
14. With regard to those who have been admitted to the University of Mercantile Marine in accordance with the provision of the preceding paragraph, the period of attendance at the Nautical College shall be regarded as that of attendance at the University of Mercantile Marine and the courses completed at the Nautical College shall be regarded as those completed at the University of Mercantile Marine.
In the item of Hirosaki University in Annexed Table No.1, "825 persons" shall be amended as "821 persons" ;in the item of Tohoku University in the same Table, "3,997 persons" as "3,977 persons" ;in the item of Gumma University in the same Table, "902 persons" as "897 persons" ;in the item of Shinshu University in the same Table, "1,223 persons" as "1,219 persons" ;in the item of Kyoto University in the same Table, "3,453 persons" as "3,414 persons" ;in the item of Tottori University in the same Table, "811 persons" as "809 persons" ;in the item of Kyushu University in the same Table, "2,916 persons" as "2,879 persons" ;and in the same Table,

Article 2. The Ministry of Transportation Establishment Law (Law No.157 of 1949) shall be partially amended as follows:
In Article 29, "Maritime Institute" and "Nautical College" shall be deleted.
Articles 32 and 33 shall be amended as follows:
Article 32 and Article 33. Deleted.
In Article 36 paragraph 1, "the students of the Nautical College, the Mercantile Marine Schools and the Seamen Training Schools" shall be amended as "the Students and pupils of the University of Mercantile Marine, the Mercantile Marine Schools and the Seamen Training Schools."
In Article 38,

Paragraph 10 of the Supplementary Provisions shall be made paragraph 11 and its subsequent paragraphs shall be moved down by one each, and the following one paragraph shall be added next to paragraph 9:
10. The University of Mercantile Marine to be established in accordance with the provisions of the National School Establishment Law (Law No.150 of 1949) shall be an auxiliary organ of the Ministry of Transportation proper until March 31, 1950.
Article 3. The Educational Personnel Certification Law (Law No.147 of 1949) shall be partially amended as follows:
In Article 4 paragraph 6 item (2), "Merchant Vessels, Merchant Vessels Practice," shall be added next to "Aquatic Products Practice."
In Annexed Table 1 Remarks (3), "and Aquatic Products" shall be amended as "Aquatic Products and Merchant Vessels."
In the first column of Annexed Table 5, "or aquatic products practice" shall be amended as "aquatic products practice or merchant vessels practice."
Article 4. The Ordinance concerning Exceptions to the Secondary School Ordinance, etc.(Imperial Ordinance No.1157 of 1941) shall be abolished.
Supplementary Provision:
This Law shall come into force as from the day of its promulgation.
