Law for Partial Amendments to the Mail Law and Others
Article 1. Partial amendments shall be made to the Mail Law (Law No.165 of 1947) as follows:
In Article 21, Paragraph 2, "5 yen" shall read "8 yen" .
In Article 23, Paragraph 4, "2 yen" and "50 sen" shall rend "3 yen" and "80 sen" respectively, and in Paragraph 5 of the same Article, "800 yen" shall read "1,200 yen" .
In Article 25, Paragraph 2, "400 yen" and "600 yen" shall read 600 yen "and" 900 yen"respectively.
Article 26, Paragraph 2 shall be amended as follows:
The rate of postage on fourth-class matter shall be 6 yen for each 100 grams in weight or fraction thereof. However, the rate of postage on fourth-class matter deposited for mailing in conformity with the provisions of Ministerial Ordinance and which is of article for correspondence education sent or received between students and their schools or legal entities authorized or sanctioned by the competent government office in accordance with the laws and regulations to conduct the correspondence education, shall be 3 yen for each 100 geams in weight or fraction thereof;the rate of postage on mail matter containing printed matter only in braille points for the use of the blind, shall be 80 sen for each 1 kilogram in weight or fraction thereof.
In Article 27, Paragraph 2, "50 sen" shall read"1 ye'n'.
Article 31 shall be amended as follows:
Article 31. The rates of postage on parcel post shall be 35 yen up to 2 kilograms, 55 yen up to 4 kilograms and 15 yen for each additional 2 kilograms or fraction thereof.
The Minister of Communications is authorized to reduce by Ministerial Ordinance the rates of postage, on parcels sent or received only within the ward limits in the Metropolis, within one and the same special city, or within one and the same city, town or village, as well as on parcels sent or received within a limited area in accordance with the provisions of Article 17, Paragraph 2, by not more than thirty-one-hundredths the rates prescribed in the preceding paragraph.
In Article 34, Paragraph 3, "400 yen" shall read "600 yeu" .
In Article 43, Paragraph 2, "10 yen" and "20 yen" shall read "15 yen" and "30 yen" respectively.
In Article 48, Paragraph 1, "1,440 yen" , "1,200 yen" , "960 yen" and "90 yen" shall read "2,160 yen" , "1,800 yen" , "1,440 yen" and "135 yen" respectively.
In Article 50, Paragraph 2, "720 yen" , "480 yen" and "300 yen" shall read "1,080 yen" , "720 yen" and "450 yen" respectively. In Paragraph 3 of the same Article, "72 yen" shall read "108 yen" .
In Article 58, Paragraph 3, "20 yen" shall read "30 yen" .
Article 59 Paragraphs 3 and 4 shall be amended as follows:
The claimable amount of indemnity referred to is Paragraph 1 shall be as follows:
When the contents of mail matters are currency,
Amount not more than 5,000 yen, and not exceeding the amount of the currency contained
When the contents of mail matters are any articles other than currency
Amount not more than 50,000 yen, and not exceeding the amount of the current price of the article contained
The Insurance fees shall be as follows:
1. In case tine contents of mail matters are currency
For claimable amount of indemnity up to 1,000 yen 70 yen
For claimable amount of indemnity exceeding 1,000 yen 70 yen plus 10 yen per 1,000 yne or fraction thereof for the claimable amount of indemnity exceeding 1,000 yen
2. In case the contents of mail matters are any article other the currency
For claimable amount of indemnity up to 1,000 yen 32 yen
For claimable amount of indemnity exceeding 1,000 yen 32 yen plus 2 yen per 1,000 yen or fraction thereof for the claimable amount of indemnity exceeding 1,000 yen
In Article 60, Paragraph 3, "15 yen" shall read "20 yen" .
In Article 61, Paragraph 3, "30 yen" shall read "45 yen" .
In Article 62, Paragraph 4 and in Article 63, Paragraph 3, "30 yen" and "15 yen" shall read "45 yen" and "23 yen" respectively.
In Article 64, Paragraph 3, "5,000 yon" shall read "50,000 yen" , and in Paragraph 4 of the same Article, "30 yen" shall read "45 yen" .
In Article 66, Paragraph 3, "30 yen" shall read "45 yen" .
In Article 68, Paragraph 2, "400 yen" shall read "600 yen" .
Article 2. Partial amendments shall be made to the Postal Savings Law (Law No.144 of 1947) as follows:
In Article 18, Paragraph 2 and in Article 39, Paragraph 2, "four yen" shall read "ten yen" .
Article 3. Partial amendments shall be made to the Postal Money Order Law (Law No.59 of 1948) as follows:
In Article 21, Paragraph 2, in Article 32, Paragraph 3 and in Article 33, Paragraph 2, "four yen" shall read "ten yen" .
Article 4. Partial amendments shall be made to the Postal Transfer Savings Law (Law No.60 of 1948) as follows:
In Article 8, Paragraph 4, "five yen" shall read "twenty yen" .
In Article 27, Paragraph 4, "four yen" shall read "thirty-five yen" .
In Article 35, Paragraph 6, in Article 46, Paragraph 2, and in Article 49, Paragraph 2, "four yen" shall read "ten yen" .
Supplementary Provision:
This Law shall come into force as from May 1, 1949.
