I hereby promulgate the Law concerning the National Holidays.

Law concerning the National Holidays
Article 1. For the purpose of preserving good customs and of building up a better society and a more flourishing life, the Japanese people, aspiring sincerely to liberty and peace, determine the days on which the whole nation do celebration, commemoration or express their gratitude, and the above days shall be called national holidays.
Article 2. The national holidays shall be as follows:
New-year's Day
Jan.1
To celebrate the beginning of the year.
Adult's Day
Jan.15
To congratulate and encourage the youth who shall be conscious that they are ladies and gentlemen and are willing to live with honor.
Vernal Equinox
Vernal Equinox
To enjoy Nature and to love the creatures.
Emperor's Birthday
Apr.29
To celebrate the Emperor's Birthday.
Constitution Memorial Day
May 3
To commemorate the enforcement of the Constitution of Japan, looking foward to the development of the Nation.
Children's Day
May 5
To express thanks to mothers, as well as to value children's character and seek children's happiness.
Autumnal Equinox Day
Autumnal Equinox
To respect ancestors, and think about the dead.
Culture Day
Nov.3
To love liberty and peace and to promote culture.
Labor Thanksgiving Day
Nov.23
To esteem labor, and celebrate production, and the people to thank one another.
Article 3. The national holidays shall be holidays.
Supplementary Provisions:
1. The present Law shall come into force as from the day of its promulgation.
2. Imperial Ordinance No.25 of 1927 shall be abolished.
