Law concerning Share by the Local Government of the Pay of Municipal School Personnel
Article 1. The salary, additional pay, grant for death, travelling expenses, family allowance, area allowance, retirement allowance, day-and-night-duty allowance (to be called hereinafter salary and other Pay), of principals, teachers, nurse-teachers, assistant teachers, assistant nurse-teachers, dormitory mations, lecturers, and the personnel who are local secretaries, of primary schools, lower secondary schools, schools for the blind, and schools for the deaf established by the cities (including special wards;the same in what follows), towns, and villages, shall be defrayed by the prefectures.
Article 2. With regard to the city, town or village upper secondary schools which offer those courses only in which lessons are given at a particular time and period (to be called hereinafter part-time course), the salary and other Pay of the principals, as well as those of the teachers, assistant teachers, and lecturers who are in charge of the lessons of the part-time course, shall be defrayed by the prefectures.
Supplementary Provisions:
1. The present Law shall come into force as from the day of its promulgation and shall be applicable as from April 1, 1948.
2. Cabinet Order, No.28, 1948 (the Cabinet Order concerning the share of defrayment of the salary and other compensations of the personnel of the primary, lower secondary, and youths schools, established by cities, towns, and villages), shall be abolished. However, the salary and other Pay of the personnels other than those who form the basis of calculation of the amount to be shared by the Treasury and who are working at the city, town, and village lower secondary schools whose pupils consist of the second and third year pupils of the middle schools of the former system, when the same order applied, shall be defrayed by city, town and village authorities inspective of the provisions of Art.1.
