In conformity with Imperial Ordinance No. 542 of the 20th year of Showa, concerning the Orders to be issued in consequence of the accepting of the Potsdam Declaration, I hereby give My Sanction to the Imperial Ordinance concerning the partial amendment to the Ordinance prohibiting the possession of firearms and other weapons and order the same to be promulgated.

Imperial Ordinance No. 434
A part of the Ordinance prohibiting the possession of firearms and other weapons is hereby amended as follows:
In Article 1, Paragraph 1, "from the Prefectural Governor concerned (or from the Superintendent-General of the Metropolitan Police Board in the case of the Metropolitan Area of Tokyo)" shall read "from the Prefectural Gevernor concerned (or from the Superintendent-General of the Metropolitan Police Board in the case of the Metropolitan Area of Tokyo. The same rule applies correspondingly to the following parts)", and next to this paragraph is added the following one paragraph.
In permitting the possession of swords mentioned in the preceding paragraph, No. 3, in accordace with the provisions of that paragraph, the Prefectural Governor must do so after having them judged by Swords Jury.
In paragraph 2 of the same Article, "the preceding paragraph" shall read "Paragraph 1."
Supplementary Provision:
The present Ordinance shall come into force as from the day of its promulgation.
