I hereby promulgate the Law amending a Part of the Law for Annual Payment, Travelling Expenses, and Other Allowances of the Members of the Houses.

Law amending a Part of the Law for Annual Payment, Travelling Expenses, and Other Allowances of the Members of the Houses
A part of the Law for Annual Payment, Travelling Expenses, and Other Allowance of the Members of the Houses (Law No.80 of 1947) shall be amended as follows:
Article 1. The Speaker and the President of each House shall be paid twenty-five thousand (25,000) yen per month, the Vice Speaker and the Vice President twenty thousand (20,000) yen per month, and a Member of the Diet eighteen thousand (18,000) yen, per month, as annual payment.
Article 7. A member of the Diet who holds the post of a public officer of the State in addition to his own, shall be paid an annual payment as a Member of the Diet, but he shall not be paid the salary for a public officer. In case, however, the sum of his pay as a public officer is more than that of his annual payment, he shall receive the balance of his account from the administrative office.
Article 9. In order to despatch official documents and conduct correspondence of an official nature, the Speaker and the President, the Vice Speaker and the Vice President of each House and a Member of the Diet shall be paid one thosand (1,000) yen per month as communication expenses.
Article 10. The private Secretary to the Speaker or the President, to the Vice Speaker or Vice President, and to a Member of the Diet, shall be paid a pay of five thousand (5,000) yen per month.
Supplementary Provisions:
1. This Law shall come into force as from the day of its promulgation. However, the revised provisions of Article 1 shall be applicable to the annual payment after January 1, 1948, the revised provisions of Article 10 shall be applicable to the salary after March 1, 1948, and the revised provisions of Article 9 shall be applicable to the communication expenses after June 1, 1948.
2. The total sum of the annual payment which the Speaker and the President, the Vice Speaker and the Vice President, and the Member of the Diet has already received after January 1, 1948, and the special allowance according to the Law concerning Special Allowance to the Members of the National Diet (Law No.95 of 1947) shall be regarded as part payment of the annual payment in accordance with this Law. This shall be the same regarding communication expenses which have already been received after June 1, 1948.
3. The salary of the Secretary to the Speaker or the President, to the Vice Speaker or the Vice President, or to the Member of the Diet, already received after March 1, 1948, shall be regarded as part payment of the salary in accordance with this Law.
4. The balance between the sum regarded as part payment according to the preceding two paragraphs, and the annual payment or the payment under this Law, shall be regarded as the grant stimulate in Item 5, Paragraph 1, Article 38 of the Income Tax Law (Law No.27 of 1948), in applying the same Law.
5. The Law concerning the Special Allowance to the Members of the National Diet (Law No.95 of 1947) shall be abrogated.
