I hereby give my sanction to the Imperial Ordinance governing the Status of the Officials of the Overseas Governments and cause the same to be promulgated.

Those persons who are the officials of the overseas governments (including the officials of the Local Government of Karafuto) at the time of the enforcement of the Present Ordinance shall be relieved of office at the expiration of a period of one month after their arrival in Japan in the case of those who are in the overseas areas (here and hereinafter including those who are in Japan on official business or on furlough) or after their appointment in the case of those who were appointed to overseas offices but are still in Japan, or at the time of the enforcement of the present Ordinance in the case of those who are in Japan at the time of the enforcement of the present Ordinance and have been in Japan for more than one month after their arrival in Japan and in the case of those who have been in Japan for more than one month after they were appointed to overseas offices, except those who are designated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
In accordance with such regulations as may be made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs upon deliberation with the Minister of Finance, part of the salaries and allowances of the officials governed by the preceding paragraph may not be paid.

Supplementary Provision:
この勅令は、昭和二十一年五月三十一日から、これを施行する。
The present Ordinance shall come into force as from the thirty-first day of the fifth month of the twenty-first year of Showa (May 31, 1946).
