We hereby give Our sanction to the Ordinance concerning the amendments of the Imperial Ordinance concerning Organizations and Functions of the Local Government of Tokyo Metropolis and others and cause the same to be promulgated.

Imperial Ordinance No. 244
Article 1. The following amendments are made to the Imperial Ordinance concerning Organizations and Functions of the Local Government of Tokyo Metropolis.
In Article 1, "20 (full-time)" shall read "19 (full-time)".
In Article 1-2, "not more than 278 (full-time)" shall read "not more than 292 (full-time)", "not more than 323 (full-time)" shall read "not more than 493 (full-time)" and "not more than 2,967 (full-time)" shall read "not more than 4,033 (full-time)".
Article 2. The following amendments are made to the Imperial Ordinance concerning Organizations and Functions of the Local Government of Hokkaido.
In Article 1, "58 (full-time)" shall read "59 (full-time)".
In Article 1-2, "not more than 120 (full-time)" shall read "not more than 121 (full-time)", and "not more than 751 (full-time) shall read not more than 780 (full-time)".
In Article 10, "six Departments" shall read "seven Departments" and "the Economic Department" shall read
the Colonization Department
".
In Article 12, Item 3, No. 4 and No. 5 are struck out, and the following Item is added.
The following affairs are administered at the Colonization Department:
1. Affairs for Colonization.
2. Affairs for Administration and Management of the State-owned Uncultivated Land.
Article 3. The following amendments are made to the Imperial Ordinance concerning Organizations and Functions of the Local Governments of Prefectures.
In Article 1, "1,772 (full-time)" shall read "1,771 (full-time)".
In Article 2, "not more than 922 (full-time)" shall read "not more than 954 (full-time)", not more than "4,128 (full-time)" shall read "not more than 4,332 (full-time)" and "not more than 25,280 (full-time)" shall read "not more than 26,645 (full-time)".
Article 4. The following amendments are made to the Imperial Ordinance for Temporary Establishment of Personnel etc. in To-Cho-Fu-Ken (Tokyo Metropolis, Hokkaido and Prefectures).
In Article 1, "27 (full-time)" shall read "28 (full-time)" and "550 (full-time)" shall read "554 (full-time)".
In Article 1-3, "30 (full-time)" shall read "36 (full-time)". "108 (full-time)" shall read "137 (full-time)" and "1,917 (full-time)" shall read "2,172 (full-time)".
In Article 1-4. Item 1, "512 (full-time)" shall read "530 (full-time)" and "5,012 (full-time)" shall read "5,105 (full-time)".
Article 1-5 is made Article 1-6, and Article 1-6 is made Article 1-7.
Article 1-5. Those Police Inspectors who are made Prefectural Secretary of the 2nd grade under the Ordinance for Betterment of Government Officials' Treatment shall not be included in the authorized number of Personnel provided for in Article 1-2, Article 1-3, or Article 1-4, Item 1, but in that of Police Sergeants provided for in each of these regulations.
Article 5. "Officials in the Higher Civil Service" in the following Imperial Ordinances shall read "Officials of the first or second grade"

Imperial Ordinance No. 102 of the Thirty-Third Year of Meiji (1900).
Supplementary Provision:
The present Ordinance shall come into force as from the day of its promulgation.
