MEMORANDUM FOR

YOKOHAMA LIAISON COMMISSION.

FROM

The Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers.

1. You are hereby notified of the following intended operations by American Naval Forces:
a. A minesweeping group will soon start operations in SASEBO area.
b. The advance base for this group will be established on 8 September, with all facilities afloat, at ARIKA WAN in GOTO RETTO or at MATSUSHIMA SUIDO n case the former location is unsuitable.
c. Minesweeping at KII SUIDO will commence about 12 to 14 September with the ships basing in eastern SHIEDKU until the WAKAYAMA area is reached.
2. Pilot will be required to guide relief ships through swept channels into SASEBO and SHIMBARA KAIWAN. You will be advised by this headquarters as to when and where pilots will boat the ships
3. It is desired that you will direct so proper authorities in each area listed in subparagraphs 1a, 1b, and 1c, above to prepare without delay duplicate charts showing full information concerning the swept channels in these areas. One set of these charts will be delivered to this headquarters at the earliest possible time. The other copy will be delivered to Commander Fifth Fleet or his representative at a place and time to be designated by this headquarters. It is also desired that information concerning changes in swept channels or newly swept channels be delivered promptly to Commander Fifth Fleet and this Headquarters.
