SUBJECT | Equalization of Radiotelegraph Rates |
1. Reference is made to memorandum for the Japanese Government, file AG 311.3 (6 Feb 48)CCS SCAPIH 1228/8, dated 6 February 1948, subject same as above.
2. Paragraph 2 of SCAPIN 1228/8 is rescinded and the following substituted therefor:
Increased rates from the United States and Hawaii to Japan via RCA Communications, Inc. and Mackay Radio and Telegraph Company, Inc. became effective on 5 August 1947; and from the United States to Japan via Press Wireless, Inc. on 9 August 1947. Revenue accruing to the Japanese administration under the revised rate structure for radiotelegrams from the United States and Hawaii to Japan, via Mackay Radio and Telegraph Company, Inc. and RCA Communications, Inc., and from the United States to Japan via Press Wireless, Inc. becomes effective 15 March 1948 and is shown on pages 3 and 8 of inclosure 1. Application of a Japanese terminal charge to radiotelegrams to Japan will continue to be handled in accordance with presently established procedures, as set forth in paragraph 6 of reference 1a above.
3. Paragraph 3 of reference memorandum is rescinded and the following substituted therefor:
Increased rates for radiotelegrams from Japan to the United States and Hawaii, as listed in inclosure 1, become effective as follows: Via RCA Communications, Inc. and Mackay Radio and Telegraph Company, Inc. on 15 March 1948; via Press Wireless, Inc. on 13 March 1948. SCAPIN 1228/3 is rescinded effective 18 March 1948. Inclosure 2 of SCAPIN 1228 is not applicable to RCA Communications, Inc. and Mackay Radio and Telegraph Company, Inc. after 14 March 1948 and is rescinded effective 18 March 1948.
