1. Reference is paragraph 6 of Directive No. 3, this headquarters, dated 22 September 1945.
2. The inventory required of the Chemical Industry will include coverage of the following items:
a. Heavy chemicals:
Sulfuric acid
Hydrochloric acid
Nitric acid
Phosphoric acid
Acetic acid, acetone, etc.
Sodium hydroxide
Oxygen
Hydrogen
Nitrogen
Chlorine
Carbide
Bleaching Powder
Glycerin
Magnesium carbonate
Alcohols-methyl, ethyl and others produced in quantity.
Other important solvents, including aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, amines, etc.
Salts of potash, barium, etc.
b. Fixed nitrogen and fertilizers:
Ammonia
Inorganic and organic fertilizers including nitrates, calcium phosphate, and superphosphate of lime.
c. Pharmaceutical products, including synthetic and natural drugs, and vitamin products.
d. Dyes and intermediates-synthetic and natural dyes including basic, acid, direct, mordant, sulfur and vat dyes, and imported derivatives.
e. Paint, varnish, lacquer and their raw materials.
f. Plastics, including
Acrylates
Cassein
Cellulose
Phenol
Formaldehyde, other aldehydes, Polyvinyl and chlorovinyl types
Polystyrene
Urea
g. Oils and fats, including soap.
h. Chemicals obtained from
Coal and petroleum, including
Coal tar
Anthracene
Naphthalene
Benzene
Toluene
Light paraffins and olefins
i. Miscellaneous, including by-products of principal chemical processes, and essential catalysts.
