MEMORANDUM FOR

IMPERIAL JAPANESE GOVERNMENT.

Reports to be made by Certain Business Firms.

1. It is directed that this headquarters be provided information on each of the below listed firms as specified in Inclosure 1 attached hereto:
Mitsui Holding Co., Ltd.; Holding Company of Mitsubishi; Sumitomo Holding Co.; Holding Company of Yasuda, Yasuda Hozensha; Kawasaki Heavy Industry; Nissan and Co.; Asano Honsha; Fuji Industrial Co., Ltd.; Shibusawa Dozoku and Co.; Nippon Nitrogenous Fertilizer Co., Ltd.; Furukawa Mining Co., Ltd.; Okura Mining Co., Ltd.; Nomura and Co.; Riken Industry Co., Ltd.; Nippon Soda Co.; Manchuria Investment Securities Co., Ltd.; Hitachi Ltd.; Nichiden Industrial Co.;
2. It is directed that this headquarters be provided information on each of the below listed families as specified in Inclosure 2 attached hereto, and that the information concerning each family be certified as complete and accurate by the respective heads of the families concerned:
Mitsui, Iwasaki, Sumitomo, Yasuda, Kawasaki, Asano, Nakajima, Shibusawa, Furukawa, Okura, Nomura, Noguchi, Aikawa, Okochi.
3. Information directed will be submitted in quintuplicate, typed in English on 8" x 11" paper, and be dilivered to this headquarters within thirty (30) days of the date of this memorandum.

Enclosure I - Report to be made on Certain Management Personnel
1. Supply the following information for each person who participated in the control or management of any of the firms listed in paragraph 1 of the subject memorandum at any time since 1 January 1944 to the extent of holding the positions of president, managing director, evecutive partner, partner, business advison, auditor, factory manager or superintendent, or having a direct or indirect beneficial ownership of 1% or more of any class of stock of the company, or if in any other way they carry executive or policy making responsibility.
a. Name and business and residential addresses.
b. All positions held, and period in which held, in enterprises listed on the Schedule of Restricted Concerns. (Inclosure to Letter, AG 004 (8 Dec 45) ESS/AC, dated 8 December 1945).
c. All positions held in other business enterprises.
d. All positions held in national policy companies (Kokusaku Kaisha) and special companies (Tokushu Kaisha).
e. All stocks, bonds, debentures credits, negotiable instrument or other forms of financial interest in any business enterprise. The amount of such interest held on 1 January 1945 and 1 November 1945, together with other details will be shown in tabulated form, as follows;

2. For each firm listed in paragraph 1 of the subject memorandum, and for each subsidiary and offiliate thereof, supply financial statements including a balance sheet and profit and less statement as of a recent date, not earlier than 29 September 1945.
3. Submit a complete statement of all interconnections between the reporting concern and any other concern listed on the Schedule of Restricted Concerns, and all interconnections between subsidiaries and affiliated concerns of reporting concerns, and any other concern on the Schedule of Restricted Concerns. Such statement will include but not be limited to the following:
a. Long term or continuing purchase and sales contracts.
b. Agreements for the interchange of patent licenses or patent rights.
c. Agreements for the use of trade marks.
d. Contracts or agreements for the management or direction of any enterprise.
e. Contracts or agreements for the financing of any enterprise.
Enclosure II - Report to be made on Certain Family Relationships.
1. The heads of the families listed in paragraph 2 of subject Memorandum will supply the information listed below:
a. Two (2) copies of the House Rules of the family. As used herein the term House Rules is intended to cover such documents as the Mitsui family will, including revisions, if any, and any other documents which set forth the organization of the family and the duties of members to one another.
b. A list of names of all persons who are mentioned in the information supplied in response to Inclosure 1, who are related to the family by blood, marriage or adoption. Such lists will show nature of relationship. If the individuals listed are related to other families listed in paragraph 2 of subject Memorandum, the fact of such relationship will also be included.
