MEMORANDUM FOR

JAPANESE GOVERNMENT.

SUBJECT

Processing Individual Repatriates from the United States.

1. Reference is made to the following memoranda to the Japanese Government from General Headquarters, Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers:
a. AG 370.05 (7 May 46) GC, Annex VI to SCAPIN 927, 7 May 1946, subject, “Repatriation,” as amended;
b. AG 131 (6 Nov 47) CPC/GP, SCAPIN 1812, 6 November 1947, subject, “Concentration of Currencies and Financial Instruments Surrendered by Repatriates at Ports of Entry in Japan.”
2. Japanese nationals being repatriated from the United States are hereby exempted from provisions of paragraph 2a (1) of reference memorandum 1a above.
3. The Japanese Government is hereby authorized to exchange for each reqatriate a maximum of one hundred (100) United States dollars for Bank of Japan yen. The conversion will be at the prevailing military rate of exchange. Currencies so converted will be deposited with the Bank of Japan under provisions of reference memorandum 1b above.
