MEMO FOR RECORD: (SCAPIN - 1887)

26 April 1948
1. Reference is SCAP Memorandum AG 004 (8 Dec 45) ESS/AC, SCAPIN 403, Subject: "Establishment of a Schedule of Restricted Concerns."
2. The following companies were placed on the Schedule of Restricted Concerns, reference paragraph 1, above, because they were first line subsidiaries of designated holding companies:
Yamani Denki K.K. (Yamani Electric Company, Ltd.)
Nissan Kasai Kaijo Hoken K.K. (Nissan Fire & Marine Ins. Co., Ltd.)
Sanyo Tsushin Kogyo K.K. (Sanyo Communication Industry, Ltd.)
Toho Aen K.K. (Toho Zinc Company, Ltd.)
3. The following chart indicates the company, its parent company, the number of shares the parent company owned and the date the company added to the Schedule of Restricted Concerns.
Company Parent Company No. of Shares Owned by Parent Co. Date Restricted
Yamani Denki K.K. Furukawa Mining Co., Ltd 1,500 8 Dec 45
Nissan Kasai Kaijo Hoken K.K. Nissan & Company, Ltd 153,125 8 Dec 45
Sanyo Tsushin Kogyo K.K. Oki Securities Co., Ltd 2,000 14 Mar 46
To ho Aen K.K. Imperial Mining Co., Ltd 34,200 25 May 46
4. In compliance with Law No. 233 of 1946 the parent company, in all the above cases, transferred the stock it held in its subsidiaries to the Holding Company Liquidation Commission. This prevented the holding company from dissipating the assets of its subsidiaries through management of the company. Since the HCLC has now disposed of these stocks either to employees of the issuing company or to individuals having stocks either to employees of the issuing company or to individuals having no connection with the parent concern, none of the companies own any stock in other companies United Nations Nationals interests are not involved, and the companies are neither designated (Law 207) nor special accounting companies, there is no longer reason to keep them on the Schedule of Restricted Concerns.
5. This is an administrative matter and no surveillance by the Eighth Army is required.
6. The interests of USAFIK are not concerned.
7. Concurrences: None required.
