Subject | Termination of Mass Repatriation from Japan. |
1. Reference is made to:
a. Memorandum for the Imperial Japanese Government, file AG 370.05 (7 May 46) GC, (SCAPIN-927), dated 7 May 1946, subject: Repatriation, as amended.
b. Memorandum for the Imperial Japanese Government, file AG 014.33 (24 Jul 46) GC, (SCAPIN-1081), dated 24 July 1946, subject: “Repatriation of Ryukyuans now in Japan,” as amended.
c. Memorandum for the Imperial Japanese Government, file AG 014.33 (16 Oct 46) GC, (SCAPIN-1273), dated 16 October 1946, subject: “Repatriation to Korea.”
2. Mass repatriation from Japan for former residents of China, Formosa, Manchuria and the Solomon, Marshall, Caroline, Bonin, Gilbert and Marianas Islands has been completed.
3. Mass repatriation from Japan will terminate upon completion of current repatriation programs for former residents of:
a. Korea, South of 38° North Latitude; estimated completion date, 15 December 1946; reference paragraph 1c above.
b. The Ryukyu Islands, South of 30° North Latitude; estimated completion date, 26 December 1946; reference paragraph 1 b above.
4. Repatriation of former residents of localities named in paragraphs 2 and 3 above, remaining in Japan after termination of mass repatriation, will be considered only on the merits of each individual case and provided that proof is presented that individual did not forfeit his privilege of repatriation.
