SUBJECT | Repatriation of Evacuees from Bonin Islands. |
1. Reference is made to:
a. Memorandum from the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers, file AG 370.05(7 May 46)GC, (SCAPIN-927), dated 1 May 1946, subject: "Repatriation," as amended.
b. Memorandum from the General Liaison Office, Number 3793 (RF), dated 1 August 1946, subject as above.
c. Memorandum from the General Liaison Office, Number 4473 (RF), dated 4 September 1946, subject as above.
2. Authority is granted to repatriate the individuals listed in inclosures to references paragraphs 1 b and 1 c above and these listed on inclosure number 1 hereto. Shipping for this purpose will depart from Uraga on or about 15 October 1946 for Guam. Name of ship and exact sailing date will be furnished the Imperial Japanese Government at a later date.
3. The Imperial Japanese Government will, in regard to the individuals referred to in paragraph 2 above:
a. Notify them, they are authorized to return to the Bonin Islands.
b. Insure their arrival at the Uraga Reception Center prior to 15 October 1946 and outloading on ship designated for their repatriation.
c. Permit them to take baggage in the amounts listed on inclosure to reference paragraph 1 b above, and on inclosure number 1 hereto.
d. Except as specified in paragraph 3 c above, process them as prescribed in reference paragraph 1 a above.
