MEMORANDUM FOR

IMPERIAL JAPANESE GOVERNMENT.

THROUGH

Central Liaison Office, Tokyo.

SUBJECT

Repatriation of Japanese from Hawaii, Philippines, Okinawa, the Marianas Islands, and the Caroline Islands.

1. Reference is made to Memorandum for the Imperial Japanese Government, file AG 370.05 (7 May 46) GC, (SCAPIN-927), dated 7 May 1946, subject: "Repatriation," as amended.
2. Japanese prisoners of war and disarmed military personnel are being returned from Hawaii, the Philippines, Okinawa, the Marianas Islands, and Truk during the period 1 October to 31 December 1946.
3. Shipping for the return of these repatriates will be scheduled as follows:
a. Departing for Hawaii from Yokohama on or about 25 September, 25 October, and 25 November, 1719 passenger spaces each date.
b. Departing for the Philippine Islands:
(1) From Kure on or about 24 September, 5000 passenger spaces.
(2) From Hakata on or about 3, 6, 7, 13, 29 October; 5, 11, 19, 25, 30 November; 6, 10, 14 December; 2500 passenger spaces each date.
(3) From Hakata on or about 12 November, 5000 passenger spaces.
(4) From Sasebo on or about 12 December, 2000 spaces including 500 hospital spaces.
c. Departing for Okinawa.
(1) From Nagoya on or about 26 September, 10 and 26 October, 10 and 27 November, and 10 December, 1800 passenger spaces each date.
(2) From Nagoya on or about 20 December, 1158 passenger spaces.
d. Departing for Guam Marianas Islands.
(1) From Hakata on or about 15 November and 15 December, 2564 passenger spaces each date.
(2) From Uraga on or about 8 October, 1178 passenger spaces.
(3) From Uraga on or about 15 October, 1363 passenger spaces.
4. The Imperial Japanese Government will:
a. Determine from Civilian Merchant Marine Committee or the second Demobilization Bureau the name, capacity, date and sailing time of these ships.
b. Provision all ships departing Japan, for destinations as indicated above, in accordance with Annex IV of reference memorandum paragraph 1 and exercise particular care to insure that necessary winter clothing is supplied aboard these ships.
c. Receive and process Japanese repatriates arriving in Japan from Hawaii, the Philippines, Okinawa, the Marianas Islands and the Caroline Islands as prescribed in reference memorandum paragraph 1 above.
