MEMORANDUM FOR

IMPERIAL JAPANESE GOVERNMENT.

THROUGH

Central Liaison Office, Tokyo.

SUBJECT

Release of Surplus Japanese Army and Navy Medical Supplies for Civilian Use.

1. Reference is made to the conference of representatives of the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, Imperial Japanese Government on 19 September 1945, and representatives of this headquarters. The Japanese Government was represented by H. Komiya, Chief of Division for Pharmaceutical Affairs, Dr. K▲ijo ▲bech and Dr. ▲itsuta Manabe. At that conference it was reported that some difficulty was being experienced in securing release of surplus medical supplies from the Japanese Army and Navy for civilian use. The assistance of this headquarters was requested.
2. Memorandum, file AG 402.5 (24 Sep 45) GD, subject: "Materials, Supplies, and Equipment Received and to be received from the Japanese Armed Forces," dated 24 September 1945, forwarded by this headquarters to the Imperial Japanese Government under date of 24 September 1945 directs that the Home Ministry will receive and distribute such supplies and equipment as are to be returned to the Japanese Government. Contact by the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs will be made with the Home Ministry regarding release of Japanese Army and Navy Medical Supplies to be used for treatment of Civilian Population.
