1. Reference is made to:
a. Letter from Central Liaison Office, Tokyo file C.L.O. No.1380(1.1) dated 26 December 1945, subject as above.
b. Letter from Central Liaison Office, Tokyo file C. L. O. No.143(1.1) dated 11 January 1946, subject as above.
c. Memorandum to Imperial Japanese Government, file AG 470.8 (10 Nov 45)GD, dated 10 November 1945, subject as above.
2. The quantity of tanks and tractors requested in references Par 1a and 1b above are in excess of those in hand.
3. The request to modify combat vehicles as stated in references Par la and 1b above is approved subject to the same conditions set forth in reference 1c above. The number of vehicles to be converted will be determined by the Commanding General Eighth U.S. Army.
4. The Commanding General English U. S. Army has been charged with the supervision of this project. Direct arrangements will be made with him for the release of vehicles for modification and for the accomplishment of the modifications. Clearance will be obtained from him before any of the converted vehicles are put into operation.
