MEMORANDUM FOR

IMPERIAL JAPANESE GOVERNMENT.

THROUGH

Central Liaison Office, Tokyo.

SUBJECT

Repatriation of Koreans.

1.Reference is made to the foIlowing memorandums from this headquarters:
a.File AG 370.5 (17 Nov 45)GC, dated 17 November 1945, subject: "Repatriation of Non-Japanese from Japan."
b.File AG 370.05 (17 Nov 45)GC, dated 17 November 1945, subject: "Reception Centers in Japan for Processing Repatriates."
2.In order to facilitate the functioning of the Korean repatriation program it has been decided to route Korean repatriates to ports of embarkation and embark them on ships according to the repatriates' destination in Korea.
3.The Imperial Japanese Government will:
a.Transport repatriates from Japan to Korea on Japanese merchant shipping and LST's operated, manned, victualled and provisioned by the Japanese under the direction of SCAJAP.
b.Send Koreans to be repatriated from Japan to reception centers and embark them on vessels destined for ports in Korea in accordance with the following routing:

c.Insofar as is practicable, outload Korean repatriates so that those destined for Cholla Pukto, Cholla Namdo and Chungchong-Namdo will be placed on ships bound for Kunsan or Mokpo.
