MEMORANDUM FOR

IMPERIAL JAPANESE GOVERNMENT.

THROUGH

Central Liaison Office, Tokyo.

SUBJECT

Formosan Students, Tokyo Area.

1. Reference is made to Memorandum for the Imperial Japanese Government, file AG 044 (8 Dec 45) GD, dated 8 December 1945, subject: "Relief and Welfare Plans."
2. a. It has been reported that there are several hundred Formosan students in Tokyo area in need of relief.
b. Memorandum referred to in paragraph 1 above requires Imperial Japanese Government to provide adequate minimum living standards for this group among others during the period, January June 1946.
3. It is directed the Imperial Japanese Government conduct a survey and furnish to this headquarters by 15 February the following:
a. Number of Formosan students in Tokyo area who do not desire repatriation.
b. The names of those Formosan students in Tokyo area who do not desire repatriation and are in need of relief.
