SUBJECT	Purchase by the Japanese Government of Foreign Currencies

1. Reference is made to C.L.O. Memorandum No. 1410 (5.1) dated 27 December 1945.
2. The request of the Imperial Japanese Government for permission to purchase notes of the Bank of Chosen, the Bank of Taiwan, the Central Bank of Manchukuo and United States Currency brought into Japan by repatriates prior to imposition of import and export controls is not approved.
