GENERAL HEADQUARTERS
SUPREME COMMANDER FOR THE ALLIED POWERS

APO 500

AG 370.05 (28 Dec 45) GC
(SCAPIN - 508)

MEMORANDUM FOR

IMPERIAL JAPANESE GOVERNMENT.

THROUGH

Central Liaison Office, Tokyo.

SUBJECT

Repatriation of Japanese Diplomatic and Consular Members and Others.

1. Reference is made to letter C. L. O. No.990 (5.2), dated 10 December 1945, subject as above.
2. On 17 December, Mr. Okomura, Chief of Fifth Division, C. L. O. called Room 511 Dai Ichi Building. While there he submitted a copy of the letter, referred to in paragraph 1 above, and requested that the phrase in paragraph 2 of reference letter reading, "as well as the Japanese civilians abroad", be deleted. Reason given was that inclusion of that phrase would unduly complicate return of the Japanese Diplomatic and Consular members and their retinue.
3. It is requested that the deletion, referred to in paragraph 2 above, be confirmed in writing if it be in accord with the desires of the Imperial Japanese Government.

FOR THE SUPREME COMMANDER:

H.W.ALLEN,
Colonel, A.G.D.,
Asst Adjutant General.
