SUBJECT

Repatriation of Remaining Personnel on the Amami Islands for Japan Proper.

1. Reference is made to letter, Liaison Commission (Tokyo) for the Imperial Japanese Demobilization Ministries, file S 515, dated 18 December 1945, subject: " Repatriation of Remaining Personnel on the Amami Islands for Japan Proper."
2. Shipping has been allocated to return repatriates from the Ryukyus. The responsibility for the manner in which the area is cleared and the priority of evacuation within the area lies with the military commander concerned.
3. The request that special arrangements be made for the return of four hundred and ten military personnel from the Amami Islands, contained in reference letter, is disapproved.
