SUBJECT | Formosan Repatriation. |
1. Formosa has been opened for repatriation. There follows a schedule of vessels assigned to shuttle between Formosa and Japan.
a. D. D. Natsuzuki, capacity 600 repatriates, sails Kagoshima 17 December, arrives Kiirun 20 December, arrives Kagoshima 24 December.
b. Escort 44, capacity 250 repatriates, departs Kagoshima 20 December, arrives Kiirun 23 December, arrives Kagoshima 27 December.
c. Choun Maru, capacity 2000 repatriates, departs Uraga 16 December, arrives Kiirun 22 December, arrive Kagoshima 28 December.
d. Additional schedules will be furnished as they are established.
2. Present directives will govern repatriation. It will be noted that Uraga has not been previously authorized as a reception center for outgoing repatriates. Authority for its use is this case is hereby granted.
3. The Imperial Japanese Government will:
a. Prepare plans for evacuation of former residents of Formosa in Japan who are desirous of repatriation. Capacity loads for the Natsuzuki, Escort 44 and Choun Maru will be prepared for embarkation, ready at appropriate ports of departure at the proper time as indicated in paragraph 1 above.
b. Be prepared for reception of capacity loads of Japanese returning to Kagoshima from Kiirun on dates indicated in paragraph 1 above.
