MEMORANDUM FOR

IMPERIAL JAPANESE GOVERNMENT.

THROUGH

Central Liaison Office, Tokyo.

SUBJECT

Local Currencies at Ports of Foreign Countries.

1. Reference is made to your C. L. O. No 200, dated 7 October 1945, subject: "Local Currencies at Ports of Foreign Countries."
2. It is not desired to provide masters of Japanese repatriation ships with foreign currency for tne purchase of supplies locally in foreign ports.
3. Arrangements are being made with the authorities who control ports outside of Japan to accept receipts for necessary supplies issued to Japanese ships servicing those ports.
4. Masters of Japanese vessels engaged in repatriation will be instructed to furnish quantitative receipts for supplies obtained outside of Japan. Receipts will specify amount and kind of supplies and whether supplies will be used for Japanese troops, or civilians.
5. The Japanese Government will provide fuel, fresh water and victuals for all vessels engaged in repatriation to the maximum extent practicable. Accordingly Japanese vessels will obtain supplies at ovrseas ports in minimum amounts necessary to complete their scheduled voyages.
