MEMORANDUM FOR

IMPERIAL JAPANESE MINISTRY OF THE NAVY

THROUGH

Central Liaison Office, Tokyo.

SUBJECT

Reserve of Replacement Personnel for the Crews of Japanese Naval Vessels Engaged in Repatriation and Minesweeping Services.

1. As requested in N.D. No. 117-2 from the Liaison Committee(Tokyo) for the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy, dated 16 October 1945, authority is granted to retain a temporary reserve of personnel for the purpose of providing replacements and reliefs for the member of the crews of Japanese naval vessels engaged in repatriation and minesweeping services.
2. This reserve shall consist of civilian merchant marine personnel and its strength shall not exceed seven thousand (7000) men.
3. The indicated number of men will be maintained at the following locations: Uraga, 1300; Kure or Hiroshima, 3000; Sasebo or Hakata, 1300; and Maizuru, 1400; total 7000.
