SUBJECT | Funds that may be Brought into Japan by Returning Japanese Military Personnel |
1. Reference is made to enclosed communication.
2. Japanese Nationals who are returning or traveling to Japan from the Bonin Islands are permitted to bring with them into Japan personal funds in yen currency in the amounts set forth in paragraph 2a of Memorandum this Headquarters for the Imperial Japanese Government, File No. AG 091.31 (12 Oct 45)ESS. Subject: "Supplemental Instructions Relating to Import and Export Controls".
3. An acknowledgement of the receipt of this memorandum is directed.

1. Communication from Liaison Committee (Tokyo) for the Imperial Japanese Army and Navy, dated 19 Oct 45, requesting clarification on amount of funds that returning military personnel may bring back to Japan with them from the Bonin Islands.
2. It is considered that until status of the Bonin Islands has been defined, Japanese returning from them to Japan should be subject to the same regulations as other repatriated Japanese nationals. Memorandum AG 091.31 (12 Oct 45) ESS authorizes amounts that may be brought in by repatriated Japanese nationals.
