SUBJECT

Remittance of Funds

1. Reference is made to your C. L. O. M-No. 68, dated 24 September 1945, wherein you request authorization for the remittance ¥100, 000 in Japanese currency to the Japanese Counsellor at Seoul, Korea and the remittance of ¥15, 000 to the French Consulate-General at the same place.
2. Authorization for the remittance of the funds in question is denied.
3. The Commanding General of the United States Army Forces in Korea has authority to make available in Korea any funds required to defray the expenses of any Japanese officials in Korea whose services are required by him.
4. The matter of the remittance of ¥15, 000 to the French Consulate-General in Seoul is being handled directly with the French Embassy.

MEMO FOR RECORD: (SCAPIN - 136) 14 October 1946
1. Memorandum C.L.O.M. - No. 68 from Central Liaison Office requested authorization for remittance via Bank of Korea, Seoul, of 100,000 yen to be used for expense of Counsellor of Embassy Kazuji Kameyama and other officials sent to Seoul by Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affair’s to conduct liaison business. Authorization also requested for 15,000 yen remittance which French Embassy in Tokyo requested be sent to French
Consulate-General at Seoul for latter's expense.
2. Request denied as Commanding General of United States Army Forces in Korea is to defray expenses of required Japanese officials in
Korea. Funds will also be advanced the French Official by COMGENUSAFIK subject to later settlement. French Embassy should be informed bv letter as shown (inclosure 1).
