SUBJECT | Registration of Ryukyuans. |
1. Reference is made to:
a. Memorandum for the Imperial Japanese Government, subject and file number as above, (SCAPIN746) dated 17 February 1946.
b. Memorandum of Central Liaison Office, No. 1616 (RF) dated 7 April 1946, subject: "Registration of Koreans, Chinese, Ryukyuans and Formosans."
2. Information has been received that the number of Ryukyuans, reported in reference, paragraph 1 b above , as desirous of repatriation does not reflect the true situation existing in Japan at the present time.
3. The Imperial Japanese Government will revise data pertaining to Ryukyuans contained in reference, paragraph 1 b above, to show accurately the current situation in Japan.
4. The report will include the total number of Ryukyuans now resident in Japan desirous of repatriation, excluding those who have moved to repatriation centers, broken down to show sub-totals by present location in Japan and destination in the Ryukyus.
5. The report will indicate the situation as of 1 October 1946, and will be submitted prior to 20 October 1946.
