Chairman of the Military Commission in Yokohama

With reference to the request from the Japanese Imperial General Headquarters concerning the retention of swords by Japanese militant personnel, you are advised that if these swards are the personal property of those officers concerned, they may be retained on condition that henceforth it will be understood that they have no military significance whatever, but are household treasures.
Swards which are issued by the government and, therefore, are government property, will be turned in with other weapons of war.
