SUBJECT | Identification Tags for Ryukyuan Repatriates. |
1. Reference is made to paragraph 5 i of memorandum from the Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers, file AG 014.33(24 Jul 46)GC, (SCAPIN-1081), dated 24 July 1946, subject: "Repatriation of Ryukyuans now in Japan."
2. Information has been received from the Central Liaison Office; Tokyo, Mr. Hiroichi Tagaki, that:
a. The identification tags described in reference, paragraph 1 above, are not now available.
b. That these tags can be made available at the reception centers on or before 10 August 1946.
3. The Imperial Japanese Government will immediately take action to insure that the identification tags, as specified in reference paragraph 1 above, are available at the Kagoshima, Sasebo, Kure and Nagoya reception centers in ample time permit each Ryukyuan repatriate departing Japan to be properly tagged.
