    <LawTitle>Law for Partial Amendments to the Code of Civil Procedure, etc.</LawTitle>
    <MainProvision>
      <Article Num="1">
        <ArticleTitle>Article 1.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>The Code of Civil Procedure (Law No.29 of 1890) shall be partially amended as follows:</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
          <AmendProvision>
            <AmendProvisionSentence>
              <Sentence>In Article 22 paragraph 2, "five thousand (5,000) yen" shall be amended as "thirty thousand (30,000) yen" .</Sentence>
            </AmendProvisionSentence>
          </AmendProvision>
          <AmendProvision>
            <AmendProvisionSentence>
              <Sentence>Article 152 paragraph 4 shall be made paragraph 5, and in the same paragraph, "oral proceedings" shall be amended as "oral proceedings in cases where preliminary proceedings have not been held" , and next to paragraph 3 of the same Article, there shall be added the following paragraph:</Sentence>

                <ParagraphSentence>
                  <Sentence>No change in the date of oral proceedings after preliminary proceedings have been held shall be permissible except in cases where unavoidable cause exists.</Sentence>

          <AmendProvision>
            <AmendProvisionSentence>
              <Sentence>In Article 236 paragraph 3, "the Commissioned Judge" shall be amended as "the Judge who conducts preliminary proceedings" .</Sentence>
            </AmendProvisionSentence>
          </AmendProvision>
          <AmendProvision>
            <AmendProvisionSentence>
              <Sentence>Article 249 shall be amended as follows:</Sentence>

              <Article Num="249">
                <ArticleTitle>Article 249.</ArticleTitle>
                <Paragraph Num="1">
                  <ParagraphNum/>
                  <ParagraphSentence>
                    <Sentence>The court may hold preliminary proceedings for oral proceedings.</Sentence>
                  </ParagraphSentence>
                </Paragraph>

          <AmendProvision>
            <AmendProvisionSentence>
              <Sentence>In Article 250 paragraph 2, Article 252 and Article 253, "the Commissioned Judge" shall be amended as "the Judge who conducts preliminary proceedings" .</Sentence>

        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="2">
        <ArticleTitle>Article 2.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>The Law concerning the Costs of Civil Action (Law No.64 of 1890) shall be partially amended as follows:</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
          <AmendProvision>
            <AmendProvisionSentence>
              <Sentence>In Article 9 and Article 11 paragraph 1, "per one appearance" shall be amended as "per one appearance or examination" .</Sentence>
            </AmendProvisionSentence>
          </AmendProvision>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="3">
        <ArticleTitle>Article 3.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>The Law concerning Stamps for Civil Procedure (Law No.65 of 1890) shall be partially amended as follows:</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
          <AmendProvision>
            <AmendProvisionSentence>
              <Sentence>In Article 3 paragraph 1, "six thousand (6,000) yen" shall be amended as "thirty-one thousand (31,000) yen" .</Sentence>
            </AmendProvisionSentence>
          </AmendProvision>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
    </MainProvision>
    <SupplProvision>
      <SupplProvisionLabel>Supplementary Provisions:</SupplProvisionLabel>
      <Paragraph Num="1">
        <ParagraphNum>1.</ParagraphNum>
        <ParagraphSentence>
          <Sentence Function="main" Num="1">This Law shall come into force as from the day of its promulgation. However, the amended provision of Article 22 paragraph 2 referred to in Article 1 and the provision of Article 3 shall come into force as from the day when the period of thirty (30) days has elapsed counting from the day of promulgation of the Law for Partial Amendments to the Court Organization Law (Law No.287 of 1950).</Sentence>
        </ParagraphSentence>
      </Paragraph>
      <Paragraph Num="2">
        <ParagraphNum>2.</ParagraphNum>
        <ParagraphSentence>
          <Sentence Function="main" Num="1">The Code of Civil Procedure as amended by the provisions of Article 1 of this Law shall apply also to any matter which has arisen prior to the coming into force of each provision thereof, without prejudice, however, to any effect which has arisen under the Code of Civil Procedure hitherto in force.</Sentence>
