      <Article Num="1">
        <ArticleCaption>(Purpose)</ArticleCaption>
        <ArticleTitle>Article 1.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>The purpose of this Law shall be to provide for the construction of the eternal peace commemorating city of Hiroshima as the symbol of the human ideal for eternal peace.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="2">
        <ArticleCaption>(Planning and Enterprise)</ArticleCaption>
        <ArticleTitle>Article 2.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>Special city planning for the construction of the Hiroshima Eternal Peace Commemorating City (hereinafter referred to as the peace commemorating city construction planning) shall include, in addition to the city planning provided for in Article 1 of the City Planning Law (Law No.36 of 1919), the planning of the facilities which may be appropriate in commemorating eternal peace and furthermore the planning of such cultural facilities as may befit the eternal peace commemorating city.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
        <Paragraph Num="2">
          <ParagraphNum>2</ParagraphNum>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>The special city planning enterprise to construct the Hiroshima Eternal Peace Commemorating City (hereinafter referred to as the peace commemorating city construction enterprise) shall aim to put the peace commemorating city construction planning into practice.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="3">
        <ArticleCaption>(Assistance to Enterprise)</ArticleCaption>
        <ArticleTitle>Article 3.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>The organs concerned of the government and the local public entities shall, in view of the significance of the purpose mentioned in Article 1, render every possible assistance to the expedition and completion of the peace commemorating city construction enterprise.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="4">
        <ArticleCaption>(Special Subsidies)</ArticleCaption>
        <ArticleTitle>Article 4.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>Whenever it is deemed necessary for the execution of the peace commemorating city construction enterprise, the Government may transfer the common properties, regardless of the provisions of Article 28 of the National Property Law (Law No.73 of 1948), to the local public entities which will bear the expenses necessary for execution of the construction enterprise.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="5">
        <ArticleCaption>(Reports)</ArticleCaption>
        <ArticleTitle>Article 5.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>The executioners of the peace commemorating city construction enterprise shall make efforts for the expedition of the construction enterprise and shall submit reports on their progress to the Minister of Construction at least once every six months.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
        <Paragraph Num="2">
          <ParagraphNum>2</ParagraphNum>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>The Prime Minister shall report to the Diet once every year on the progress of the peace commemorating city construction enterprise.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="6">
        <ArticleCaption>(Responsibility of the Mayor of Hiroshima)</ArticleCaption>
        <ArticleTitle>Article 6.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>The Mayor of Hiroshima shall make continuous activities for the perfection of the Hiroshima Eternal Peace Commemorating City, with the co-operation of its inhabitants and by support of the organs concerned.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="7">
        <ArticleCaption>(Application of the Law)</ArticleCaption>
        <ArticleTitle>Article 7.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>Unless otherwise provided for by this Law, the Special City Planning Law (Law No.19 of 1946) and the City Planning Law shall be applicable to the peace commemorating city construction planning and the peace commemorating city construction enterprise.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
    </MainProvision>
    <SupplProvision>
      <SupplProvisionLabel>Supplementary Provisions:</SupplProvisionLabel>
      <Paragraph Num="1">
        <ParagraphNum>1.</ParagraphNum>
        <ParagraphSentence>
          <Sentence>This Law shall come into force as from the day of its promulgation.</Sentence>
        </ParagraphSentence>
      </Paragraph>
      <Paragraph Num="2">
        <ParagraphNum>2.</ParagraphNum>
        <ParagraphSentence>
          <Sentence>The city planning projects and enterprises under execution in the city of Hiroshima, at the time of the enforcement of this Law shall be considered as the peace commemorating city construction enterprise and shall be modified, pursuant to the provisions of Article 3 of the City Planning Law, so as to conform to the purport as set forth in Article 2 paragraph 2 of this Law.</Sentence>

      </Paragraph>
