I hereby promulgate the Law for Partial Amendments to Law for Prevention of Infectious Diseases. Signed:HIROHITO, Seal of the Emperor This nineteenth day of the fifth month of the twenty-fourth year of Showa (May 19, 1949) Prime Minister YOSHIDA Shigeru Law No.81 Law for Partial Amendments to the Law for Prevention of Infectious Diseases A part of the Law for the Prevention of Infectious Diseases (Law No.36 of 1897) shall be amended as follows: "The competent Minister" shall read "Minister of Welfare" and "local governor" shall read "governor of To, Do, Fu or Ken" . In Art.3, "report the case to the police authorities, the head of the city, town or village, the head of the ward, the head of the neighbourhood unit, the committee for the inspectiou of infectious disease or the committee for the prevention of of infectious disease of the place where the patient resides or his body is found;the same rule holds good upon termination of the disease" shall read "report the case through the head of the city, town or village, the committee for the inspection of infectious disease or the committee for the prevention of infectious disease (directly to the chief of the health center in the area where wards exist in Tokyo Metropolis and in the city designated by Cabinet Order based upon specification under Art.1 of the Health Center Law) of the place where the patient resides or his body is found to the chief of the health center in charge of the area where the patient resides or his body is found;in case of the termination, reporting procedure shall be the same except in case of death" . In Art.4, Par.1, "the police authorities, the head of the city, town or village, the head of the ward, the head of the neighbourhood unit, the committee for the inspection of infectious disease or the committee for the prevention of infectious disease of the place wherein the house is situated" shall read "the head of the city, town or village (the chief of the health center in the area where wards exist in Tokyo Metropolis and in the city designated by Cabinet Order based upon specification under Art.1 of Health Center Law), the committee for the inspection of infectious disease or the committee for the prevention of infectious diseases of the place wherein the house is situated" . In Art.15, Par.1, "according to the provisions of Art.83 of the Regulations governing the Organization of Cities or of Art.69 of the Regulations governing the Organization of Towns and Villages" shall be deleted. The following one Article shall be added next to Art.18:

Article 18-(2). Infectious disease prevention official and infectious disease prevention technician shall be appointed in "To, Do, Fu or Ken" . Infectious disease prevention official appointed from among secretaries and infectious disease prevention technician appointed from among technical officials shall be engaged in infectious disease prevention practice. The Minister of Welfare shall fix the licence and other matters necessary for infectious disease prevention official and infectious disease prevention technician.

In Art.19-(2), Par.1, "Minister for Home Affairs" shall read "Minister of Welfare" . The following one Article shall be added next to Art.19-(2):

Article 19-(3). The Minister of Welfare may, if he deems it necessary for the prevention of infectious diseases, order the government of one "To, Do, Fu or Ken" to despatch infectious disease prevention official and infectious disease prevention technician under the provisions of Art.18-(2) to the governor of another "To, Do, Fu or Ken" in order to cooperate for the infectious disease prevention practice to be executed by the latter.

Art.20, Par.2 shall be deleted. In Art.21, "borne" shall read "paid" . In Art.22, "borne by the local expenses for Hokkaido or the prefecture" shall read "paid by " To, Do, Fu or Ken, "and" local governor "shall read" To, Do, Fu or Ken." The following one Article shall added next to Art.22:

Article 22-(2). Expenses incurred by despatched infectious disease prevention official and infectious disease prevention technician for cooperation from another "To, Do, Fu or Ken" in accordance with the provisions of Art.19-(3) shall be defrayed by "To, Do, Fu or Ken" given co-operation.

Arts.23 to 25 inclusive shall be amended as follows:

Article 23. Deleted.

Article 24. With respect to the payment of the expenses mentioned in Art.21, "To, Do, Fu, or Ken" shall disburse two thirds of it, is accordance with the provisions of Cabinet Order.

Article 25. In accordance with the provisions of Cabinet Order, National Treasury shall bear a half of the payment and the disbursement borne by "To, Do, Fu or Ken" under the provisions of Art.22 and the preceding Article. In accordance with the provisions of Cabinet Order, National Treasury shall bear the expenditures with respect to infectious disease prevention official and infectious disease prevention technician under the provisions of Art.18-(2).

In Art.27, Par.1, "Hokkaido district treasury or prefectural treasury" shall read "treasury of To, Do, Fu or Ken" . Art.32 shall be amended as follows:

Article 32. Deleted.
