      <Article Num="1">
        <ArticleTitle>Article 1.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>A part of the Law concerning the Temporary Measures for the Designation of Judicial Police Officials, etc.(Law No.234 of 1948) shall be amended as follows:</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>

            <AmendProvisionSentence>
              <Sentence>The following one Article shall be added next to Article 3:</Sentence>

              <Article Num="4">
                <ArticleTitle>Article 4.</ArticleTitle>
                <Paragraph Num="1">
                  <ParagraphNum/>
                  <ParagraphSentence>
                    <Sentence>In regard to the flagrant offences committed in the trains, or stations of the Japanese National Railways, the undermentioned directors or officials designated by the persons fixed by the Minister of Transportation after they have consulted with the Chief of the District Public Procurator's Office corresponding to the District Court having jurisdiction over the place where such directors or officials chiefly serve shall perform the duties of a judicial police officer as prescribed by the Code of Criminal Procedure in case they are the directors or officials enumerated in item (1) or perform the duties of a judicial police constable as prescribed by the said Code in case they are the officials enumerated in item (2):</Sentence>

                  <Item Num="1">
                    <ItemTitle>(1)</ItemTitle>
                    <ItemSentence>
                      <Sentence>Directors, station masters, assistant station masters and masters of conductors'offices of the Japanese National Railways and the officials of the Railways who are engaged in the affairs concerning the maintenance of order among the passengers and other people or the prevention of troubles in regard to baggages and freights;</Sentence>

                  <Item Num="2">
                    <ItemTitle>(2)</ItemTitle>
                    <ItemSentence>
                      <Sentence>Assistant station masters, assistant masters of conductors'offices and conductors of the Japanese National Railways, and the officials of the said Railways who are engaged in the affairs concerning the maintenance of order among the passengers and other people or the prevention of troubles in regard to baggages and freights.</Sentence>

      <Article Num="2">
        <ArticleTitle>Article 2.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>A part of the Maritime Safety Board Law (Law No.28 of 1948) shall be amended as follows:</Sentence>

              <Sentence>Article 31 shall be amended as follows:</Sentence>
            </AmendProvisionSentence>

              <Article Num="31">
                <ArticleTitle>Article 31.</ArticleTitle>
                <Paragraph Num="1">
                  <ParagraphNum/>
                  <ParagraphSentence>
                    <Sentence>In regard to the offences committed at sea, Maritime Safety Officials shall, as fixed by the Director-General of the Maritime Safety Board, perform the duties of a judicial police official as provided for in the Code of Criminal Procedure.</Sentence>
                  </ParagraphSentence>
                </Paragraph>
              </Article>

    <SupplProvision>
      <SupplProvisionLabel>Supplementary Provision:</SupplProvisionLabel>
      <Paragraph Num="1">
        <ParagraphNum/>
        <ParagraphSentence>
          <Sentence>The provisions of Article 1 of this Law shall come into force as from the day of enforcement of the Japanese National Railways Law (Law No.256 of 1948), and the provisions of Article 2 as from the day of promulgation of this Law.</Sentence>
