      <Article Num="1">
        <ArticleTitle>Article 1.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>The salary and other compensations of national public service personnel enumerated below (hereinafter referred to as the personnel in the special service) shall be regulated as provided for in this Law:</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>

            <ItemTitle>(1)</ItemTitle>
            <ItemSentence>
              <Sentence>Prime Minister;</Sentence>
            </ItemSentence>
          </Item>
          <Item Num="2">
            <ItemTitle>(2)</ItemTitle>
            <ItemSentence>
              <Sentence>Minister of State;</Sentence>
            </ItemSentence>
          </Item>
          <Item Num="3">
            <ItemTitle>(3)</ItemTitle>
            <ItemSentence>
              <Sentence>Audit Controller;</Sentence>
            </ItemSentence>
          </Item>
          <Item Num="4">
            <ItemTitle>(4)</ItemTitle>
            <ItemSentence>
              <Sentence>Personnel Commissioner;</Sentence>
            </ItemSentence>

          <Item Num="12">

            <ItemSentence>
              <Sentence>Chairman and Commissoner of the Fair Trade Commission;</Sentence>
            </ItemSentence>
          </Item>
          <Item Num="13">
            <ItemTitle>(13)</ItemTitle>
            <ItemSentence>
              <Sentence>Chairman and Commissioner of the National Election Management Commission;</Sentence>
            </ItemSentence>
          </Item>
          <Item Num="14">
            <ItemTitle>(14)</ItemTitle>
            <ItemSentence>
              <Sentence>Persons holding confidential Secretaryship as defined in Article 2, paragraph 3, items 8 and 12 of the National Public Service Law;</Sentence>
            </ItemSentence>
          </Item>
          <Item Num="15">
            <ItemTitle>(15)</ItemTitle>
            <ItemSentence>
              <Sentence>Chamberlain;</Sentence>
            </ItemSentence>
          </Item>
          <Item Num="16">
            <ItemTitle>(16)</ItemTitle>
            <ItemSentence>
              <Sentence>The other personnel as difined in Article 2 of the National Public Service Law to be designated by Cabinet Order.</Sentence>
            </ItemSentence>
          </Item>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="2">
        <ArticleTitle>Article 2.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>The monthly rate of salary of the personnel in the special service enumerated in items 1 to 13 inclusive of the preceding Article shall be fixed in the Annexed Table.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
        <Paragraph Num="2">
          <ParagraphNum>2</ParagraphNum>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence Function="main" Num="1">The monthly rate of salary of the personnel in the special service as designated in items 14 to 16 inclusive of the preceding Article shall be determined by Cabinet Order;provided, however, that the highest rate shall not exceed 20,000 yen.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="3">
        <ArticleTitle>Article 3.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence Function="main" Num="1">The payment of salary of those newly entitled to the personnel in the special service shall begin on the very date of their formal appointment;provided, however, that in case the personnel in the special service retiring or dismissed from his service is again simultaneously appointed to the other category of service to be performed by the personnel in the special service, the payment of his salary shall begin on the day following the day of formal appointment.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="4">
        <ArticleTitle>Article 4.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>In case the personnel in the special service cases to have his title due to retirement or dismissal from his service or death, the payment of his salary shall be suspended on the very date of such event.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="5">
        <ArticleTitle>Article 5.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence Function="main" Num="1">The payment of salary under the preceding Articles shall be made on daily base, the daily rate being one-twenty-fifth (1/25) of the monthly amount of salary fixed for the personnel concerned;provided, however, that the amount thus computed is in excess of the monthly amount of salary, the latter shall be regarded as the maximum amount to be paid out.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="6">
        <ArticleTitle>Article 6.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>Salaries shall be issued for each month on the date specified by Cabinet Order;provided, that in the case of Article 4 they shall be paid as the event described therein takes place.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="7">
        <ArticleTitle>Article 7.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence Function="main" Num="1">Remunerations other than salary to be paid to the personnel in the special service shall be previded as in the case of regular government service personnel;provided, that Family Allowance as well as overtime allowance shall not be paid to the personnel in the special service enumerated in the items 1 to 13 inclusive of Article 1 and those designated by Cabinet Order.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
    </MainProvision>
    <SupplProvision>
      <SupplProvisionLabel>Supplementary Provisions:</SupplProvisionLabel>
      <Article Num="8">
        <ArticleTitle>Article 8.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>This Law shall come into force as from the day of its promulgation.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
        <Paragraph Num="2">
          <ParagraphNum>2</ParagraphNum>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence Num="1">Regardless of the provision of the preceding paragraph, the provisions of Articles 1 and 2 shall be applicable from November 1, 1948. In this case the words "personnel commissioner" shall be construed to "Chairman and commissioner of the Temporary National Personnel Commission."</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="9">
        <ArticleTitle>Article 9.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>Salaries and other compensations received by the personnel in the special service for the period beginning November 1, 1948 and thereafter shall be regarded as a part of salaries and other compensations to be paid under this Law.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
        <Paragraph Num="2">
          <ParagraphNum>2</ParagraphNum>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>In case an amount issued to him as a part payment of salary and other compensations in accordance with the preceding paragraph exceeds the amount of salary and other compensations to be received under this Law, he may not be bound to reimburse the salary and other compensations which he has already received.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="10">
        <ArticleTitle>Article 10.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>A part of the Law relating to the Prohibition of Private Monopoly and Methods of Preserving Fair Trade (Law No.54, 1947 shall be amended as follows:</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
          <AmendProvision>
            <AmendProvisionSentence>
              <Sentence>Paragraph 1 of Article 36 shall be amended as follows:</Sentence>
            </AmendProvisionSentence>
            <NewProvision>
              <Paragraph Num="1">
                <ParagraphNum/>
                <ParagraphSentence>
                  <Sentence>Remunerations of the chairman and commissioners of the Fair Trade Commission shall be provided for otherwise.</Sentence>
                </ParagraphSentence>
              </Paragraph>
            </NewProvision>
          </AmendProvision>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
      <Article Num="11">
        <ArticleTitle>Article 11.</ArticleTitle>
        <Paragraph Num="1">
          <ParagraphNum/>
          <ParagraphSentence>
            <Sentence>The Law concerning Salaries and other Compensations granted to Prime Minister, etc. (Law No.55, 1948) shall be abolished.</Sentence>
          </ParagraphSentence>
        </Paragraph>
      </Article>
