I hereby promulgate the Law concerning the Temporary Measures for the Designation of Judicial Police Officials, etc. Signed:HIROHITO, Seal of the Emperor This ninth day of the twelfth month of the twenty-third year of Showa (December 9, 1948) Prime Minister YOSHIDA Shigeru Law No.234 The Law concerning the Temporary Measures for the Designation of Judicial Police Officials, etc.

Article 1. Those who perform the duties of judicial police officials with regard to the forest, railway and other special matters and the scope of their duties shall, for the time being, be governed by the provisions of the Ordinance concerning Judicial Police Officials and the Designation, etc. of Those to be Commissioned with Duties of such Officials (the Imperial Ordinance No.528 of 1923) except as otherwise provided in other laws.

Article 2. In other laws, "judical police officials" (Shiho-keisatsukanri), "judicial police officers" (Shiho-keisatsukan) and "judicial police constables" (Shiho-keisatsuri) shall read respectively "judicial police officials" (Shiho-keisatsu-shokuin), "judicial police officers" (Shiho-keisatsuin) and "judicial constables" (Shiho junsa).

Supplementary Provision: The present Law shall come into force as from the day (January 1, 1949) when the Law for the Amendments to the Code of Criminal Procedure (Law No.131 of 1948) is enforced.
