I hereby promulgate the Law amending a Part of the Regulations governing the Organization of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. Signed:HIROHITO, Seal of the Emperor This fifteenth day of the seventh month of the twenty-third year of Showa (July 15, 1948) Prime Minister ASHIDA Hitoshi Law No.164 Law Amending a Part of the Regulations Governing the Organization of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry The Regulations governing the Organization of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Imperial Ordinance No.486 of 1945) shall partially be amended as follows: In Article 3, "Nine Bureaus" shall read "Ten Bureaus," and "Mining Bureau" shall read "Mining Bureau and Iron and Steel Bureau". In Article 4, "Affairs concerning the enforcement of reparation in connection with business under the competence" shall be added next to "Affairs concerning the reconstruction and adjustment of enterprises within the Ministerial jurisdiction."

Article 4-(2). There shall be established the Reparation Enforcement Division in the General Affairs Bureau. The Reparation Enforcement Division shall take charge of affairs concerning the enforcement of reparation relative to enterprises within the jurisdiction.

In Article 8, "Except those falling under the competence of other offices" shall be added next to "in the Mining Bureau."

Article 8-(2). The Iron and Steel Bureau shall take charge of affairs concerning iron and steel.

Article 9-(4). Necessary organs may be established within the Ministry of Commerce and Industry by Cabinet Order in order to provide service, on the request of private or juridical persons or other government agencies, whereby goods may be inspected in accordance with properly established standards.

Supplementary Provisions: The present Law shall come into force as from the bay of its promulgation. Regulations governing the Temporary Establishment of the Reparation Enforcement Bureau of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (Imperial Ordinance No.532 of 1946) shall be abolished herewith.
