I hereby give My sanction to the Imperial Ordinance concerning Salaries for Government Officials and cause the same to be promulgated. Signed: HIROHITO, Seal of the Emperor This twenty-eighth day of the fourth month of the twenty-second of year Showa (April 28, 1947) Countersigned: Prime Minister YOSHIDA Shigeru Minister of Finance ISHIBASHI Tanzan Imperial Ordinance No. 161 Salaries, various allowances and all other compensations for Government Officials (including those treated as such) are to be reasonably paid for their services rendered and be put on the basis which can fairly maintain their living at the same time. Necessary matters as regards payments of above compensations excluding those stipulated by law shall be disposed of in accordance with provisions of Imperial Ordinance except those provided otherwise by laws. Supplementary Provision: The present Ordinance shall come into force as from the day of its promulgation.
