I hereby promulgate the Law regulating damage, etc. of the subsidiary coins. Signed:HIROHITO, Seal of the Emperor This fourth day of the twelfth month of the twenty-second year of Showa (December 4, 1947) Prime Minister KATAYAMA Tetsu Law No.148 Law Regulating Damage etc. of the Subsidiary Coins Subsidiary coins shall not be damaged or melted down. Subsidiary currencies shall not be collected with the intention of damaging or melting them down. A person who violates the provision prescribed in the first or preceding paragraph shall be imprisoned for not exceeding 1 year or fined not exceeding 10,000 yen. Supplementary Provisions: The present Law shall come into force as from the day of its promulgation. Ministry of Finance Ordinance No.40 (concerning the regulation on collecting, melting or damaging of the subsidiary coins) of the fifteenth year of Showa shall be abolished.
